My paintings are all hand made and follow the authentic and traditional Hungarian painted folk art from Kalocsa, my hometown.
While growing up there, the wall painting was the other set of motives I really liked. This is a special painting technique in Hungary, Kalocsa is the only place where the folk art of wall painting has achieved the highest ranks. In 1882, the contemporary wall-painting was already discussed. The period before Great War was characterized by clearly organized, stylized motifs; they were similar to the patterns and colours of painted furniture popular in those days. The patterns always included roses and tulips. Later, the motives sizes increased, became more colourful. After the World War II, the flower painting tradition declined with houses re-built and with modern city life. Painted walls can be found only in peasant homes where the lady of the house is skilled of the folk art. Unfortunately, at present times, this art is almost extinct. There are only two places in Kalocsa where the original examples can be seen; one of them is in the House of Folk Art and the other is at terminated train station.
If you can’t find what you are looking for, do not hesitate to get in touch as I would love to help. Please not that even if do everything to keep my products’ list updated, it might happen that motives or forms may vary from as shown on the pictures – as the nature of the folk art is to make always something creative and unique with a new set of flowers to make it personal.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy what you see!
